Living in Hong Kong for the last 12 years has really heightened my food palette. There's just so many restaurants to choose from; a wide variety of cuisine and prices. Thus, As a foodie, I am always looking out for experiences that is out of the ordinary and A Taste of Sicily is something that I would highly recommend.
Chef Marco's home cooked meal is set in a comfy apartment on Mid-levels HK island. Upon entering the abode, one is greeted by the chef with a warm welcome and bubbly champagne to kick off the evening (note: BYOB). Guests are seated on a 6-seat table resplendent with family heirloom silver and china, fresh floral arrangements and crystal glasses.
Chef Marco prepared a four-course meal kicking off with a salad with grilled squid and asparagus creme sauce. The squid was done just right as the texture was succulent. The accompanying soup dish was a delight as it was a refreshing clear broth of chicken consume with mushrooms. Then the highlight of the evening was the pork loin which was slow cooked for 8 - 10 hours. It was served on a plate of grilled carrots, capsicums, asparagus and more... Chef Marco carved a generous serving for each guests and the initial reaction to the dish was one of delight as the meat was tender yet perfectly cooked. Delicious! Lastly, the meal of the evening wouldn't be complete without dessert where he prepared fresh blueberries, strawberries on a tart.
Overall, the evening was enjoyable as the ambience and home-cooked food plus the effervescent personality of the Chef made the dining experience unforgettable. I would recommend everyone to try this!
