I am an Italian fashion designer with a passion for cooking, my husband Daniel is a Hypnotherapist and English teacher with the same passion! Different backgrounds and different paths led us both to Hong Kong.
Where it all started?
In the kitchen of course!
Our shared love of great home-cooked food connected us from the very first day. From that moment on we combined our knowledge, passion and effort and have hosted many fabulous dinners and BBQs with our friends.
We think it's about time we share some of this passion with the PlateCluture foodies!
Wonderful dining experience on the rooftop! The view was beautiful. Love the delicious homemade pasta and bread prepared by Daniel & Marzia. Highly recommend if you want a getaway from the city with good food!
I spent a nice and chilled Sunday with friends at D&M's rooftop. The view was spectacular, space was private, and the hosts were warm and friendly but also gave you the space to catch up with friends! Food was all homemade and fresh. Daniel and Marzia kindly explained the ingredients and where they are from which was really nice. If you are looking for a relaxing and freshly homemade meal on a rooftop then this would be perfect for you!
We asked for an early 5pm start to the evening in the hope of catching the sunset. Mother Nature however wasn’t cooperating though and the grey sky threatened to open up and shed buckets. That however didn’t spoil the evening. Not one bit.
Daniel and Marzia’s rooftop terrace presents a beautiful, unobstructed view of Clearwater Bay, and the cool, slightly windy evening provided a lovely backdrop to a wonderful evening.
Daniel and Marzia welcomed us with their warm blend of South African-Italian hospitality, and our welcome drinks - prosecco, soda and bitter spritzers that put the smiles back on our faces after a rather long drive.
Marzia brought up home-baked breads, carrots, cucumbers and celery sticks served with pots of hummus and tzatziki, and olive oil and olives to accompany the 2nd bottle of prosecco (the first was used for the spritzers).
The cold cut platter came next with generous servings prosciutto, salami and somesorta sausage. 2 more bottles of prosecco accompanied this.
A trio of open-faced breads followed. One had a coarsely-cut garlic spread, the second was the bruschetta. The outstanding offering was the third with rich pork lard spread that won my heart. The only suggestion I would offer is to use slightly softer breads - my old teeth felt at risk of cracking at times (I of course tend to exaggerate).
Loved the way the meal was paced. Daniel & Marzia left is with enough time to have a good natter, and soak in the atmosphere, yet diligently took turns to pop upstairs to check if we needed anything.
Their kitchen is one floor below, and I snuck down to steal a peek at Daniel and Marzia in their flour-covered aprons rolling the dough for the spaghetti. It’s all hand-made!
The spaghetti carbonara comes in a caveman-large sized portion. Loved the bits of wonderfully aromatic bacon in it. The pasta however seemed a tad overdone for me, but then I tend to lean towards al dente pasta a bit more. Or perhaps we distracted them with our endless badgering for more alcohol top-ups (3 bottles of prosecco are included in the meal, and we brought a whole lot more!).
Tiramisu was served in a tray. Taste-wise it was fine, but I felt it could have been a tad lighter. This one was a bit too moist at the bottom.
All in all, it was a delightful experience. Fantastic view and ambience, Italian music floating across the breeze, warm and attentive hosts, good food at a reasonable price.
Will we come back? Most definitely! We just need Daniel and Marzia to make sure they keep this going ...!
Daniel and Marzia were fantastic hosts :) I had a dinner booked for my partners' birthday and they helped put up candles around the dinning area to set the mood! My partner also had forgotten to bring cigarettes and Daniel helped source a few around his home, which my partner was so so grateful for! The rooftop ambiance was beautiful and amazing. It resembled a little Italy :) Food and drinks were very fresh and D&M made most of it from scratch themselves. They were very friendly and also accommodated my 2 dogs (gave them water) All in all, a really wonderful private, quiet fine dining experience. Would highly recommend :)
We have absolutely no complaints and all praises about this meal! Beautiful and tranquil setting, honest and down to earth food cooked wonderfully, fanstastic hospitality from Daniel & Marzia.... Can't thank D&M enough! We will be back for more for sure!
Had a most enjoyable evening with Daniel and Marzia - a lovely and sweet couple. Their communication was excellent. All the food was made from scratch, fresh and so delicious! A very relaxing and special place. Thank you for putting your heart into everything! Ciao!
We celebrate my friend's birthday here which is a tranquil home in Clearwater Bay, has an amazing view at the rooftop. The ravioli is very delicious, and Daniel and Marzia specially made a tiramisu cake for us! Most importantly, Daniel & Marzia warmly welcomed us and we had a very enjoyable night! Will definitely go back!
