Aslam's kitchen prepares authentic Cape Malay & North Indian as well as my take on famous European and Middle Eastern dishes . From Denning vleis (sweet sour tamarind leg chops with bay leaves) to & North Indian Mugle Biryani (bed of saffron rice topped with marinated meat, ground nuts & kurds, adorned with rose petals & fried nuts) to Portuguese Bacalao and Middle eastern Kabsa and shatta.

  1. Bio

As a little boy I watched and learnt from my Grandmother who was a Gourmet Chef for a prominent South African family. I am a qualified hairdresser since the age of 19 and have been for over 40 years while simultaneously doing banqueting for our community's weddings, 21st birthdays and various other functions. I specialize in mass cooking e.g. 100 litre pots of food. During my years of running my own hairdressing business I also opened a little restaurant in which I served our most well known cape malay, indian as well as international dishes. I am currently doing homestay for international English language students and I thoroughly enjoy sitting around the dinner table every night getting to know my students, their culture and spoiling them with a different dish every night. I look forward to anyone interested in something a little different which includes myself as well as my food.
