We're Angel and Quinn, a Mexican-Malaysian couple back in KL, Malaysia for a few months and we brought with us some lovely flavours from our home in Chiapas, Mexico. They're recipes we've learned from la mamá de Angel, who urged us to pack a variety of chiles in our luggage! For you, we'd love to transform them into a deep flavoured chicken "mole" or smoky pork-spine "asado", prepared with ingredients grilled slowly over a fire. Or if you want some comfort food, we can make you a tummy-warming chicken soup "caldo de gallina de rancho". There's also "enchiladas", chicken or mushroom folded inside warm corn tortillas, drenched in a delicious "mole" then generously topped with chopped fresh onions and parsley. Then of course there's the ubiquitous tacos, your choice of minced beef or pork wrapped in corn tortillas. For the adventurous, you could try our "taco de cabeza", made with the surprisingly delicious offerings from a cow's head...moo!!
We'll make sure you won't miss out on tortilla chips and our homemade tomato salsa, and if you feel a little Latino growing inside you, we'll turn up the music for some real salsa dancing! If you dare, we have some Oaxaqueño mezcal, cousin to the tequila, to share. For caffeine lovers, we have organic coffee from Chiapas and raw cane sugar, which we'll prepare for you Mexican style, café de olla.
You'll dine al fresco in Quinn's parents garden which has wonderful flowers, fruits and vegetables growing all around.
Interaction with guests is as much or as little as you want; we'd love to share with you about our wonderful state, Chiapas, home to jungles, mountains, rivers, the Mayans and the Zapatista uprising among many things, or just sit back and enjoy our home and the food with your friends and family.
