Born and raised in Greece, my favorite cook is my mom! From her, I learned how to make lentil soup when I was 4 years old, traditional Easter cookies when I was 5, and almost every Greek food by the age of 16.
I love Greek food, not only because the Mediterranean diet is one of the best in the world, but also because of the variety it offers. Greek cuisine has everything, from meat to fish to vegetarian dishes, and if somebody asks me “what is your favorite food?” the answer will not be an easy one! But by using only the finest ingredients, I know that the result is always tasty!
For me, cooking is like yoga, it helps me relax after a busy day. Since I’ve relocated in HK, almost 3 years ago, I often organize gatherings for my non-Greek friends, and I’m always happy to introduce them to some 100% original Greek flavors!

We had a wonderful Greek meal at Mary's - it was a really fun evening learning about the lovely food and some Greek culture! We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone. She was a very welcoming hostess. Thanks!

Reply from  Dear Tabitha, Thank you for your review! I'm happy you had a nice time - hope you can try another of the menus some time soon. :-)

Mary is such a fantastic host and the food she prepares is how one might imagine a wonderful home cooked meal in Greece to be...together with the freshest herbs, olive oil from her family and a charming host. The only thing which would be different from a typical home-cooked meal was that it was all presented in a very professional and clean setting (much more professional than the home-cooked environments I am used to...).

Great host with fantastic food and a nice living room environment. What more could you ask for?

Reply from  Dear Eugene, Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope I'll see you again soon! In the meantime, I wish to both of you all the best for the upcoming "new member"!

Meat the Fish from Greece.... Wow, what an evening!!! I must admit the evening was actually like being on holiday in Greece!

I'm particular with hygiene - this place was spotless. The atmosphere was welcoming, cozy, relaxing.

Now, I'm also a foodie...and Greek food is my weakness. I was a happy girl - sitting in HK, feeling like I'm at a traverna in Mykonos - the lamb, the feta, the potatoes...rounded off with the karydopita (walnut cake).
Complete value for money - dinner that felt like a holiday!!!!

Being Greek and residing in Hong Kong for the last 2 years, I thought it would be hard for me to find original and tasty food from Greece. This changed when I met Mary. The first time I tried her cuisine, I felt like I was back home! Her mouth-watering roast potatoes were exactly as my grandma used to make them! I was so pleasantly surprised that after this experience we became good friends, and on any occasion I try her amazing food! In one word I would describe her food as "EXCELLENT”. She has superb cooking skills, combining traditional flavors with a modern touch. From my personal experience, I know it’s hard and pricey to find good materials in Hong Kong, but Mary surely knows where to find these! The food is comparable to the best taverns you can find in Greece. I couldn’t recommend Mary’s cuisine enough! Personal favorites are the kolokythopita & the lamb with the roast potatoes (Especially the potatoes! Crunchy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside! Yummy!) Order these and you'll be going back there over and over again eating authentic Greek food… I know I wil!

Mary's kitchen is conveniently located next to Sai Yin Pun station. The flat is spacious, modern and nicely decorated. The food is authentic and delicious. I particularly liked the Kolokithopita and Tyropitakia. I was not aware that Greek pies are some of the most famous Greek dishes, it was the first time I'd tried them. They were served warm and were delicious! The skin was crunchy yet the inside was moist, I could totally have more than one! Another highlight was the main course - grilled seabass which was cooked with very simple ingredients. The freshness of the ingredients lend themselves to a bright flavour that didn't mask the flavour of the fish. The evening finished with delicious Greek coffee. Mary and Spyros are extremely knowledgeable about Greece and shared stories about island hopping around the Greek islands and the differences between them. If you're looking to try Greek cuisine, this is as authentic as you get in HK!
