Living together with my Dutch husband in Singapore and that opened me up to another new level of European cuisines, tastes and culture. I love meeting people, sharing food and travel experiences.
It is the first-time home dining experience for the group of us. A great experience, nice ambience and tasty food. We are able to chat freely and interact directly with the host. Both Sandra and Ruth have been wonderful hosts :)
My friends and I tried the three course meal with dessert and the entire experience had been lovely. We enjoyed Sandra's cooking, especially the ebi and scallops (starter) and beef bourguignon. I was also very impressed by the fact that the dessert (coffee jelly with fresh cream) was entirely made from scratch. I don't usually take cream but I did that night because it was very fresh and went really well with the coffee jelly.
Sandra is also an extremely thoughtful host. She prepared mee sua and red quail eggs, which are food that one eats during birthdays in the Chinese tradition, for my friend who was celebrating her birthday! Overall, Sandra and Rolf have been very friendly hosts and we enjoyed our conversations and impromptu karaoke session!
Would definitely recommend my friends to try out!
I reserved the omakase 3 course dinner plus desert last Sunday evening – I like cooking myself so I was curious to try out the food – the pictures on the site are promising enough.
We started with pork terrine and toast garnished with pickles, olives and more. Maybe not a special choice but what does make it special is that the chef makes the rillette from scratch. Home- and hand-made! Where else can you find that?
Next came the timbale of avocado, shrimp and scallops with a dressing of tomato and horseradish. A feast for the eye and a wonderful, light and refreshing combination of flavours and colours. Definitely recommendable.
For mains the chef served mash with home made duck confit. What more can you want than a crispy skin on a flavourful and tender duck leg? Amazingly well done; you don’t often find it like this. The mashed potatoes were smooth as crème, peppery and fragrant.
For desert there was a wonderful lavacake with strong black coffee.
An absolutely wonderful meal in a beatiful setting. The atmosphere is pleasant, the furniture is light, unimposing and the chef is easy to talk to, happy to explain what you’re eating and the half open kitchen makes it easy to interact.
We didn’t order any wine but that is an option just as more course dinners. We’ll definitively come back!
