About the kitchen


Wife of A Catalan Culinary professor, she worked hand in hand with her husband running his Tapas & Paella Restaurant called Taverna Del Mar in Quarrybay for 4 years and has gained A pool of loyal customers. The shop front restaurant has ended its contract and Kimberly & her well trained team has moved upstairs to run a more versatile private kitchen offering the same authentic cuisine from Barcelona plus some creative fusion Tapas with Asian influence & organic produce from her friend's farm. Kim also regularly invite like minded guest chefs to offer more variety to her private kitchen . Cooking class for adult and kids with cultural & language immersion ( English , Spanish and Mandarin ) and catering is also added to their service.

    I have lived & worked for more than 15 years in Spain and was married to a culinary professor from Barcelona. We are now in HK for our two kids to learn Chinese and I personally loved the traditional dishes our families cooked for us with hours of love and wishing to share them with friends in HK. I called my kitchen Tapas & Friends because I love creating dishes taught by my Asian family & friends & re-create them with a Mediterranean twist. You will also find different creations as I regularly will invite passionate Chefs friends to HK to cook with me. We are looking forward to meet new friends share more memorial evenings with you.

True to “home-style” promise, Kimmy served us a contrasting range of fulfilling and joyfully rustic, robust and earthy regional tapas that were perfect for the cooler weather, some of which she said she adapted. Well-executed and nicely presented, accompanied by a seriously good sangria. Relaxed surroundings and an easy-going host. Recommended.

Chef did not bother to turn up. The helper (who did an excellent job) cooked for us. Yvette the care taker said hi and disappeared into the room throughout the dinner. This was weird and subpar

Experience at kimmy's place was amazing! Delicious food - needless to say, I love the environment which adds a bit of coziness - just lovely. Kimmy was just lovely to ask if we were well-fed after 8 or 9 courses she has prepared us, and was not ready to call it a day if we were still hungry! Amazing dinner followed by little chats with kimmy about her restaurant and her passion about cooking. Perfect alternative dating idea indeed!

Highly highly highly recommend! Kimmy made super delicious food and was a super good host. She gave us some extra food as well and gave a lot of insight to the food she prepared. She loves what she does and you can tell she is super passionate. Had a lovely time having dinner and every course was a surprise!

11 of us had a wonderful New Years Eve Dinner at Tapas and friends , the food was fantastic ( many of them were not even part of the main menu ). Highly recommended !

The food by Kimmy's private kitchen was excellent!!! Not only does she serve authentic Spanish food, the menu also includes amazing Mediterranean dishes that were so tasty!! All food in generous amount!!! Definitely worth to go back with friends and family!

This was my first plat culture experience, the food as fantastic and plentiful, plus felt very authentic. However, it would have been nice if our host had explained each dish as personally I was going for both the food and experience. I know tapas and friends is a little different and is a private kitchen and not in someone's home, but I feel the who experience lacked the friendly, welcoming atmosphere I was hoping for.

The food was good. Authentic. the Sangria was excellent and I had 2 glass... would have had more if the Chef kept serving me more. They served me 2nd round near the end of the meal for free, and made it the more enjoyable.

Slightly on the more expensive end, if there weren't drinks involved. And the air conditioning could be done slightly better.

Tapas and Friends is an upstairs private kitchen less than 5 minutes from Quarry bay station. The host Kim has fascinating stories. She has lived in many parts of the world, from Europe to Asia. She is truly a global nomad. She doesn't just travel. She likes to stay in places to really get to know the people and learn their culture. She really tries to understands their cuisines and fuses these influences with her favorite Spanish tapas. This is why she is not restricted by a menu. Kim likes to be spontaneous. She likes to decided the menu of the day based on her mood and the best available ingredients she had to hand. Dish after dish of interesting and delicious tapas, some of which we had never seen before, was served. I liked Kim's playfulness and creativity with the food. She is a true free spirit. Some of the dishes were being served for the first time and Kim was literally adjusting the recipe as she tasted them with us. Amazing. Sometimes you just have to trust the host and let her take you on a food journey. ;)
