Born in Hong Kong, my cooking style has been influenced by centuries of Chinese philosophy and palettes. I have been passionate about cooking since a young age and I have always loved modifying and developing new recipes while at home or living abroad.
Unexpected health changes motivated me to explore a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, and I now focus on taking wholesome plant-based ingredients to create nutritious and flavorful dishes.
Whilst being a vegan in Asia may not be as easy as in the West, Vegmatters was founded in 2015 with the goal of providing you with easy access to plant-based recipes with ingredients readily available in Asia.
As a vegetarian, and a yoga teacher, I would love to inspire you to think differently about a plant-based diet. There is immense potential to feel healthier, have more energy, and lead to longer term lifestyle changes.
Had a really lovely evening with these two hospitable hosts. The food was excellent, especially the beetroot patties!! Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about trying this experience.
I've really liked vegetarian food, but good veggie restaurants are hard to find. I am always on the lookout for good veggie kitchens. Although Tung Chung is a bit out of the way for most hong kongers, it was actually refreshing to explore outside the city and see a new area. Coby's apartment was spacious and nicely decorated with influences from all over the world. The atmosphere is relaxing and warm.
Our menu was creative and the food was light and delicious. Coby created many cross-cultural dishes which i have never seen before. They were very tasty and felt really healthy.
We were warmly greeted by Coby and Sach who were so much fun. Their happiness was infectious. They are the type of hosts who can talk about anything and will always have a silly story to share whatever the situation. It was a great meal with great company. Definitely recommended.
It's an exquisite experience to dine in VegMatters. We were friendly greeted by Coby and Sachin when we arrived. The house was classy decorated with great view of the airport. Food portions were well served. I particularly liked the eggplant with garlic on top. Coby and Sachin were very accommodating. The conversation was lively and interesting. It was delightful to meet, mingle, and talk with them. Finally, thank you for the home-made cookies. Highly recommend for vegetarians.
Coby and Sachin were wonderful hosts. My wife and I had a great time enjoying Coby's cooking and getting to know them. They were both down to earth, kind, and easy to talk to. Thank you for a great first experience with PlateCulture.
Coby and Sachin were very good hosts, we received very warm welcome when we arrived and small tour of the house. The interiors of the house were colorful and very clean surroundings. Sachin was a very good conversation maker so we didn't feel feel bored at all, it was lovely chatting with them. Food was really chindian and some dishes we never tried before. It was very light and tastefully made. Will surely try to book again. Great going guys!
We had a great time dining at Coby and Sachin's, who were both very warm and welcoming (as is their beautiful home). The food was hearty and balanced and the ingredients were fresh; I especially enjoyed the salad and ended up polishing off most of it. The apple pie with a properly done lattice shortcrust was the highlight of the evening (though, the competition was fierce). Coby's passion in cooking (especially baking!) really shines through. I highly recommend dining at Vegematters and would definitely come again. Thank you so much again for having us! :)
An amazing private dinner time at Coby's. Coby gave an interesting and innovative spin to the four course dinner, inspired by her many wonderful cross- cultures experience. The salad was amazing with her own take of avocado and pine nuts together with my favourite cranberries. The stuffed cannelloni was heavenly. And a fluffy chocolate souffle to end our meal with a sweet note.
We will definitely come back again!
I invited few girl friends for pre Christmas gathering at Vegmatter. All of us love healthy diet but barely try full vegetarian meal, so we didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be quite an amazing evening.
Menu was innovative and generous!!! Baguette with rosemary & garlic camerbat, spinch & cheese pie, sweet potato quinoa salad, baby kale & spinach salad with avocado dressing, mushroom stew in red wine sauce and finish with apple crumble.
The menu choices were very thoughtful, not only is healthy but very TASTY!!! Ingredients were carefully selected and good quality.
The menu changed my preception of "traditional" vege diet.
I personally love the salads and Mushroom stew was "heart warming", not to mention the beautiful chai tea, dare to say, best in HK.
The apartment was nicely decor with oriental touch. Our table was set with christmas crackers, which was again very thoughtful of the host for our christmas gathering.
Chef Coby and "Table Manager" Sach host the evening, they were guests friendly and with good sense of humor!!! We had a lot of laughing moments, which was good exercise after a big meal. They were definitely one of the highlights :)
The food were amazing and the hospitality of the host was icing on the cake. :) I would highly recommend Vegmatter to Veg lovers and also those who love to explode vegetarian dish.
Coby and Sachin were very lively hosts, made us feel at ease and welcome immediately. We chose a Chinese vegetarian menu and it was delicious. Very home style and authentic flavors. Overall, great food and lovely hosts and a fun day out in Tung Chung.
