Very Authentic & Traditional Malay Dishes!

About the kitchen

I am the eldest grandchild in a huge, huge traditional Malay family. I stayed with my materal grandparents ever since I was still schooling and I learned to cook from my beloved late grandma who was both of Malacca Baba Nyonya and Javanese descent. I learned everything from her, from traditional Malay appetizers such as the creamy, spicy Lontong & Lodeh (rice cake in the form of a cylinder wrapped inside a banana leaf & vegetables in coconut milk soup), Nasi Lemak (malay fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf) and Nyonya Laksa (spicy noodle soup in the Peranakan cuisine), to complicated but extremely delicious dishes such as Sambal Tumis Udang Petai (prawn & petai sambal), Masak Lemak Cili Api (chicken cooked with bird's eye chillies in rich grav), Rendang Ayam, Ikan Bakar & Kuah Asam (grilled fish & hot sauce), Sambal Ketam (crab sambal), Sambal Ikan Bilis Petai Tempoyak (Spicy & Hot Anchovies in Tempoyak Paste) and to traditional malay dessert such as the yummy Bubur Kacang (green bean in coconut milk), Bubur Jagung (corn porridge) and Pengat Pisang (banana in sweetened coconut milk) and many, many more. I love, love love cooking for the people I love (just like my "nenek" - late grandma) :)
