This would be my second underground supper club experience, my first for an Asian meal. Vietnamese food in KL is a rare find, finding one in a humble abode would be special. The instruction to this place was clear without a need to call the host for additional guidance. We were greeted by Kenneth as he offered us a glass of water while we waited for the remaining guests while Hoa was busy in the kitchen preparing our meals.

Overall, the food was sublime, immaculately done with precision as we started off with 3 appetisers that were brilliantly supported by an exquisite sauce that is untraditional yet became a perfect partner to the dish. The mains came in the form of 3 as well with the antibiotic free pork dishes being the main ingredient, sandwiched by a plate of refreshing salad in between, served with fragrant white rice. The caramelised braised pork belly was simply exquisite; moist, well marinated and without a hint of pork odour. Thinking this dish was the climax of the night, I was immediately elevated through the out of this world chocolate mud pie with homemade peanut butter ice cream, sprinkled with grounded peanuts and drizzled with hot chocolate that left everyone on the table speechless, a testament of Hoa's affections for French baking. What made the experience even more special was the other new found friends whom I met for the very first time, from various backgrounds, sitting at the table having good Vietnamese food and ironically, speaking and laughing about food as well. The power of food.

My recommendation for Cute Ball Kitchen would be to include Vietnamese drink like the Nước Sâm (Herbal Tea) as a welcome drink followed by Vietnamese coffee or tea to end, a menu for the night either in a piece of paper or on a white board hung up for guests to follow through each dish for that complete experience.

Cute Ball Kitchen is certainly a great dining experience I would recommend all to try the very least if not return for a second helping given the rarity of finding such good, well prepared and best of all, home cooked Vietnamese cuisine in the Kuala Lumpur if not in Malaysia.

My second visit to Cute Ball!

Hoa has high standards and actively sources for quality ingredients and experiments with new ways of enhancing the dishes. Loved her take on the sauce for Bo La Lot which had pineapples added to the usual dipping sauce, lending a slightly sweet and tangy twinge that went very well with the beef in betel leaf.

Would definitely recommend Cute Ball Kitchen - one of the best places to experience Vietnamese cuisine in KL

I had a great Vietnamese dinner hospitality hosted by Kenneth & Hoa. Hao's homecooked food was very delicious with rich Vietnamese flavor from appetizers to the main courses. I loved the sweet flavor "Caramelized Pork Belly" which taste is closed to my hometown (Kuala Terengganu) "kay hong" (sweet stewed chicken, pork belly and hard boiled eggs with fermented bean paste and palm sugar). I will return to try out other dishes.

Many thanks to the friendly couple for hosting us for some of the most satisfying Vietnamese food we've ever enjoyed, welcoming us warmly with herb-dusted fritters that whet the appetite wonderfully. Hoa's Vietnamese salad scores top marks, light & exceptionally easy to gobble up, wholesome-tasting & ravishingly nuanced with fresh veggies, seafood, meat, herbs & nuts.
